Colophon1

All of the text here is set in the typeface Georgia2, which I consider to be a slightly more elegant and better looking relative of Times New Roman.

Under the hood is Textpattern, and the design was created whilst being mindful of Web Standards3. I could dazzle you with all sorts of validation links, but I think I’ll let you take my word for it instead.

At this point in time I haven’t put a great deal of effort into making this site accessible to people with disabilities, but I hope to remedy this in the future (see the disclaimer below).

The site is hosted by TextDrive, whose services I would certainly recommend to anyone else.

Disclaimer

Historically I have had a tendency to finish 90% of a project and then leave it to wither and eventually fade into dust. As an effort to avoid this behavior, I have decided to make this site available to the general public before I consider it to be done. Sure it may look decent, but trust me, it’s not done done. I hope that the risk of damaging my reputation as a responsible, upstanding adult will motivate me to actually finish this sucker. We’ll see how that goes…

Syndication

For those of you who might refer to yourselves as tech-savvy and are in tune with some of the internet’s more recent trends, you may be happy to discover that this site has an RSS feed4. In fact, it has three:

  1. A feed that consists only of dispatches.
  2. A separate feed for endorsements.
  3. A feed that contains both dispatches and endorsements.

Footnotes5

1 What the heck is a colophon anyways? I wasn’t so sure myself, but our good friend Wikipedia cleared it right up for me.

2 That is, of course, assuming you have Georgia installed on your computer. Otherwise you are seeing this not quite as it was originally intended; in Times or some other typeface of the serif persuasion.

3 If you’re not familiar with Web Standards, our friend Wikipedia can quickly resolve this one again. If you prefer the printed word, you might want to check out Jeffrey Zeldman’s classic Designing with Web Standards.

4 RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. I could tell you what it does, but maybe this would be a great chance for you to reconnect with your younger brother, niece, or perhaps somebody from the IT department at work.

5 In case you haven’t noticed; I really enjoy using footnotes.
