The Illustrated Series Formerly Known as Life as a Fish (No. 1)

It’s a little known fact that life as a fish actually started out as a series of comics narrative illustrations1. It was a grand vision: bypassing the conventional publishing model by providing 8½” by 11” full-resolution PDF files, which could be be easily downloaded, printed, and distributed. A few comics graphic stories were drawn, and a website was designed —until it reached that ominous 90% completion mark. I then realized that drawing comics illustrating is very time consuming, and a lot of work —not necessarily something I would be able to do on a regular basis. So what had started as a rarely updated, glorified web comic series of narrative illustrations entered its cocoon, and many moons later emerged as a rarely updated, glorified weblog writing project. And as they say in showbiz, the rest is history ...

Oh wait —there was a point to that little story: I have decided to dig out the old life as a fish comics illustrations and post them here for your enjoyment. Let’s start with the very first issue, which just happens give some clues toward the origin of this publication’s title. Feel free to print this out and stick it on your fridge, especially if you’re my mom.


1 Clearly no self-respecting adult would actually be interested in comics. Perhaps a change of language is in order —something that means exactly the same thing as comics, but without all of that awful baggage …
