Cicadas

Because nothing says “summer” quite like the sound of droning insects.

Dusty's Dagos and Liquor

The hidden neighborhood bar. Frendly bartenders, never crowded, and a great patio (which is, of course, essential for summer in the Midwest). And yes, politically incorrect sandwiches.

St. Paul Classic Cookie Co.

The best treats the downtown St. Paul Skyway has to offer. Don’t let the name fool you, they also have excellent muffins in the morning!

Charles Mingus’ The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady

A fantastic jazz album, a free sound but a very coherent structure and orchestration. Nice and bassy too, with some great flamenco-ish guitar parts. I’ve been listening to it all day.
