Misunderstood song lyrics
Two of my favorites: “hold me closer, Tony Danza” and “don’t go Jason Waterfalls”. I’ll let you figure out what songs they’re from.
The Ballad of Frankie Lee and Judas Priest by Bob Dylan
“What kind of house is this,” he said,
“Where I have come to roam?”
“It’s not a house,” said Judas Priest,
“It’s not a house . . . it’s a home.”
Warm Beer and Cold Women by Tom Waits
This song makes me want to put on a pork pie hat, head to the nearest diner, and drink my sorrows away. Even when I don’t actually have any sorrows.
The Tallest Man, The Broadest Shoulders by Sufjan Stevens
I have Candice to thank for pointing this song out to me. It’ll make you do a chair dance.
Musicians who whistle (successfully)
Otis Redding’s Sittin’ On the Dock of the Bay comes to mind. Few things are more carefree than a good whistle.
Getz/Gilberto by Stan Getz and João Gilberto
The Girl From Ipanema would be enough, but then there’s eight more tracks waiting for you (nine if you count the second version of Ipanema). I swear that listening to this makes the winter a little bit warmer, and it could very well be a good source of Vitamin C. Well, maybe not the second part. But it’s a good album.
